Chemistry

PAK®27 is a granular addition compound of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). This environmentally sound compound is neither persistent in nor toxic to the ecosystem. PAK®27 initially adds oxygen to the system, and beneficial chlorophyll-a oxygenators are retained in the water column-providing oxygen to support fish and biologically essential aquatic organisms.

microscope-chemistry-analogyUpon dissolution, PAK®27 releases sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)(sometimes referred to as hydrogen dioxide).

The hydrogen peroxide then releases oxygen. The product is fully biodegradable, and is effective in acidic, neutral, and alkaline bodies of water.

Specifically, the reactions that occur with PAK®27 are:

       2Na2CO3  .  3H2O2 2Na2CO3 + 3H2O2
